When Insight Isn’t Enough
Insight is important, but lasting change often requires more than understanding alone. Together, we explore the deeper patterns that shape how you relate to yourself, others, and life’s challenges, creating space for meaningful and lasting change.
My approach
to therapy
My approach draws on research and clinical knowledge in neuroscience, physiology, psychology, attachment, human development, and trauma treatment. It is further shaped by mindfulness-based and parts-oriented approaches that emphasize awareness, self-understanding, and compassion toward one's inner experience.
I view emotional and behavioural struggles not as personal weaknesses or pathology, but as adaptive responses to life experiences. From this perspective, therapy becomes less about judgment and more about curiosity, understanding, and discovering new possibilities.
Rather than viewing thoughts, emotions, behaviour, and physical experience as separate problems, we explore how they influence one another and how these patterns may have developed over time.
Our work together is not only about insight or talking through the past. Lasting change happens through new experiences. In therapy, we pay attention to what is unfolding in the present moment, your thoughts, emotions, physical sensations, and the ways they influence one another. Together, we explore new ways of relating to these experiences that support greater wellbeing, flexibility, and choice.
Depending on your needs, I may draw from a variety of established therapeutic approaches, including Somatic Experiencing® and Internal Family Systems (IFS). The pace is collaborative and attuned to your needs, helping create the conditions for healing, growth, and lasting change.

This work is
a good fit
If you notice
patterns that persist despite insight
cycles of closeness and distance in relationships
moments of shutdown, reactivity, or disconnection
difficulty feeling at ease, even when life is going well
a sense that something deeper remains unresolved
These are often not problems to fix, but patterns to understand and shift
Who May Benefit From This Approach
I work with individuals age 16 and above experiencing a broad range of challenges. I am particularly interested in patterns that feel persistent, complex, or difficult to understand, even when there is insight into the problem. The following examples are not exhaustive but illustrate some of the concerns I commonly help people address:
Menopause & Aging related challenges
Drug & Alcohol related problems
Difficult or confusing relationships
Eating concerns
Panic attacks, Anger, Shut-down, Isolation
Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar, ADHD
Chronic stress
Auto-immune disorders
Sleep problems
Self-harm
Referrals from Healthcare Professionals
I welcome referrals from physicians, nurse practitioners, psychiatrists, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals.
In addition to supporting individuals with psychological and relational difficulties, my approach may be particularly beneficial for those living with acute or chronic medical conditions, chronic pain, injury, or the lasting effects of physical trauma.
Treatment integrates knowledge from neuroscience, physiology, human development, human needs for support and connection, and evolving psychotherapeutic approaches.

About Marie
I am a psychotherapist with experience in a variety of nursing fields and extensive experience supporting individuals and families through complex relationship dynamics, domestic abuse, and other challenging life circumstances.
I grew up in Montreal and have lived in Costa Rica and several regions of the United States before settling in beautiful British Columbia. Along the way, I have had the privilege of raising four sons—a journey that continues to deepen my appreciation for human development, resilience, connection, and the many ways our life experiences shape who we become.
I live in Whistler with my dog Riley. Outside of my practice, I enjoy spending time in the mountains, staying active, and continuing to learn. I believe curiosity is one of the foundations of both personal growth and effective psychotherapy.
In addition to English, I speak French and Spanish.
